             words and music: John Lambert
it was one of those winter days
where it was cold and clear
and there was mist laying in bottom of the valleys
it was really the most magical moment
just ten minutes of silence in the woods
              with twenty, maybe thirty people
all standing around being absolutely quiet
              just the sounds of nature
just sounds that could have been
it was a scene that could have been from a thousand years ago
horses and people, in the woods
              and everybody was absolutely quiet
              listening for the hounds
and to hear where they were
right across the top of hameldown
              down into the dart valley
              then back up
            suddenly you were there
              and you were once again
as free as you could be
            the ending of a time
              that would never come again
